Tonight we had homemade donairs - the best I've had in quite awhile since I'm celiac (gluten-free)....I can usually only get them without the bread. I recently discovered a great wrap recipe so tacos, donairs, etc are now on my menu! Yeah!
So simple and very delicious.
Step 1 - Donair Meat - Cook ground lamb, 1 chopped onion, 2-3 cloves of chopped garlic and some salt in a pan. Set aside.
Step 2 - Donair Sauce -Mix 1 cup Hellmann's Mayonnaise (homemade or other) with 3 cloves of chopped garlic, cover and place in the fridge.
Step 3 - Fixings - I like tomatoes, cheese, purple onion, and lettuce but cut up whatever you would like on the donair.
Step 4 - Wraps (use pita bread you buy if you aren't celiac) - These are somewhere between crepes (very thin pancakes) and pancakes. This recipes makes 4-5 wraps so double or triple depending on how many you want.

Mix well, removing lumps, heat grittle (flat cooking surface to high or 400F) Pour in round groupings. Let bubble and flip.
Ready to fill and serve! Enjoy....I know we did celiacs and non-celiacs alike.
